The Philadelphia Church of God sponsors Herbert W. Armstrong College. It is funded through voluntary contributions from the members, co-workers and supporters of the Church, all who care and believe in the college’s mission.

The Philadelphia Church of God is a spiritual family with members in 50 countries living the abundant way of life revealed in the Bible. Incorporated in 1989, the Philadelphia Church of God started humbly with only 12 members, but has grown into a worldwide organization carrying out a worldwide work.

The Philadelphia has thousands of members in congregations all around the world in places such as the Philippines, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

The Philadelphia Church of God sums up its beliefs by the motto: Living by every word. Jesus Christ said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Members also endeavor to follow God’s law: love toward God and love toward fellow man (Mark 12:30-31). All of the Church’s beliefs come straight from the Bible.

Based on Christ’s words from the Bible, the Philadelphia Church of God is ultimately working to fulfill two responsibilities. Christ showed that the Church is to proclaim to the world, as a witness, the good news of the coming Kingdom of God. As part of that witness, we are to publish the Bible’s warning of the disasters that will precede Christ’s Second Coming because of mankind’s sins. Secondly, the Church is to spiritually nourish its members, preparing the people God calls for future responsibilities under Christ when He returns.

Herbert W. Armstrong College helps in fulfilling both parts of the Church’s commission. It trains and educates young men and women to support the Church in getting the good news of the coming Kingdom of God, and it helps students achieve their God-given potential. Through their example, students and graduates can then strengthen the congregations they attend.

The many and varied endeavors of the Philadelphia Church of God all trace back to this clear, exciting twofold commission. The ministers and members of the Philadelphia Church of God are dedicated to proclaiming and living the way of life explained in the Bible. It is a way of sharing and giving, of caring for others, of striving for godliness in all our dealings with our fellowman. It is a way of family harmony and joy, a way of peace among nations and peoples of all cultures and races. It is a way of rigorous accomplishment, and drawing on God’s help to achieve the very fullest of our incredible human potential.

That way is taught and encouraged at Herbert W. Armstrong College.
